Chocolate Crinkles – Family’s All-time Favorite
I have baked Chocolate Crinkles countless times. It’s a must have every time I bake. It’s hubby and daughter’s special request and they can have it as breakfast, snacks or dessert. Our favorite chocolate crinkles was the one hubby’s buying in his client’s pantry in ADB, Ortigas a few years back. It was the yummiest crinkles we ever tasted and we even try to eat as little as we can so it’ll last longer. LOL
The first time I baked using this recipe, it was perfect and almost the same as the one in ADB. Then when I baked it the 2nd time, it wasn’t anymore that good so I thought of adding some more baking powder to keep it from getting too flat. So far, it helped but I’m still finding out the best way to achieve the right consistency.
A lot of friends are bugging me about my chocolate crinkles recipe, so to make up with the very late response, I am including here a step-by-step procedure, though I know it isn’t necessary at all. Oh, just let me be ‘coz I just want to take pictures. =)
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
120 grams unsweetened chocolate, melted (I use 150g though, love chocolates! hhmm.. you think it’s the culprit? Tell me!)
2 tsp. vanilla extract
4 eggs
2 cups all purpose flour (plain flour as how it’s called here in UK)
2 tsp. baking powder (I can’t exactly remember if I made it 2 1/2 or 3, sorry…)
1/2 tsp. salt
METHOD:
Melt your chocolates. I melt mine by placing it over a barely simmering water, but there are different ways in melting chocolates. Sometimes I use microwave too. Cool for a few minutes.
Beat the sugar, oil, vanilla and chocolate together.
Add in the eggs and beat well.
Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt, while adding to the chocolate mixture.
Cover with cling film and freeze for at least 1 hour or chill for a couple of hours.
When the batter has set and is easier to handle, form balls and roll in powdered sugar (icing sugar in UK) just like Dunkin’ Donut’s munchkins. Oh, and speaking of munchkins, click HERE to s
ee how my little munchkin do the rolling. You’ll see how much fun kids can have in making these choco crinkles. When done and all messed up, LOL… bake it in a preheated oven (350°F or 180°C) for about 8 minutes or more or until the surface has cracked just like the picture below.

This is how it should look like when done. Crunchy on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside.
I made 3 batches because 2 was brought to Alyssa’s school for the International Week Food Tasting where proceeds were donated to Haiti. See the story HERE.
Try this recipe and know why it has become my family’s all-time favorite.

Sus, ang trabaho naman niyan, kahit sobrang sarap nyang tingnan, dun na lang ako sa ready to bake, hehehe, tamad ko noh?
