FTF: Prawns Cooked in 7Up/Sprite

FTF: Prawns Cooked in 7Up/Sprite

Hubby and I have been wanting to buy prawns, but the price is holding us back. It was just the other week when I decided to buy some so we can finally satisty our cravings for this yummy seafood. I bought 1 kilo of frozen prawns for £7 (about $12). 8O And because I always cook what’s enough for the family, I was able to serve those for about 5 times, meaning 5 meals for 1 kilo – not bad at all. ;)

Here’s one dish I made with it and it seems like a favorite for most Filipinos.

INGREDIENTS:

prawns

7UP or Sprite, just enough to cover the prawns

butter

a dash of olive oil

salt and pepper

METHOD:

1. In a non-stick pan, melt the butter and add a dash of olive oil to prevent the butter from burning. Add in the prawns and mix until well covered with butter, sprinkle some salt and pepper. Tip in the 7UP/Sprite, mix occasionally so prawns are cooked evenly. Let it dry and gets a bit sticky.

2. Serve with steamed rice. Enjoy.

I would really suggest using a non-stick pan, because if not all flavors will not stick to the prawns, but to the pan instead.

This one also looks yummy! The price of prawns and shrimps are really expensive, much more in PH. Fresh medium size prawns would cost around 600 per kilo. We also seldom eat this, most of the time just to satisfy our cravings
