Parent’s Food Tasting Session

Late last year, I have this feeling that Alyssa’s not having a good lunch in school. She isn’t gaining weight so I talked to my kumareng Irish about it. She suggested that I feed Alyssa heavy snacks after school like rice, pasta or any carbo. And so I tried and to my surprise, she eats them like an adult – 1 cup of rice isn’t enough. So, I continued…

Then I had a meeting with her teacher before we fly to Philippines and one teacher approached me and she just confirmed my hunch – “Mummy, I have been wanting to talk to you for a long time now, I would want to say that Alyssa is not eating her lunch. If you are paying for lunch everyday, I would suggest that you just make her packed lunch because she’s not eating the prepared food in school.” There you go… My Cheeky Munchkin needs some serious talking with mum.

So before I continue talking with my aunt about funeral planning, I sat down with her and asked her why – doesn’t she like the food? what does she like? And she answered, “Mum, I want my packed lunch with rice and viand.” I know it will be hard to think of her everyday packed lunch, but I am willing to do it just so she eats lunch with gusto. But then, I was too late to inform the school – I should have written a letter before the school term ends last December.

Now, hubby’s still hesitant if she should stop her school lunch or not because for him, it’s better that she’s forced to try different kinds of food and not just eat what she’s used to.

Good thing, today we have food tasting session where parents can try the dishes off their current menu. It’ll surely help me decide on what to do the next term.
