ABENO

I almost forgot to share these photos as I got really busy with this whole pregnancy thing and our emergency trip to manila for 2 weeks. We had lunch there with good friends Lea and Reineer . They came to London all the way from New York.  I would say it was generally quite costly to dine there but the food was really great, even Alyssa had fun.

I have forgotten the names to this except for the soba rice and tofu-avocado gyoza but I would surely recommend this to anyone who loves Japanese food. ABENO is located at 47 Museum Street, London. Hoping to see Lea and her hubby again and please bring me some souvenir next time, buy morgan dollar coins.

Best start for babies

A friend recently sent me an email telling me how excited she was receiving a new smartphone htc as a mother’s day gift from her hubby. She’s celebrating her very first mother’s day this year. She asked me for certain tips with regards to giving solid foods to her baby and I thought I’d share it with everyone too.

First is to take it one at a time. Let your baby get used to a new food for about 3 days before starting with a new one. This will give you time to see if your baby is allergic to a certain food. Also it is advisable to introduce new food to your baby during breakfast or lunch to reduce the risk of allergic symptoms during night time.

Before you give anything to your baby, make sure you test the temperature of the food and please avoid giving left over foods to your baby, only give freshly cooked and freshly peeled fruits.

Start with a small amount of any food.  And never force baby to eat. Remember that with proper feeding, your baby will grow healthy and strong.

Best to you each morning!

• Rice meals – rice is a staple food among us Filipinos and nothing beats fried rice and ulam combo. For a more complete rice meal add a slice of fruit as your dessert. It can be fried rice with either tuyo and egg, longganisa, bacon, sausage, tapa, chicken nuggets, daing, corned beef and so on.

• Cereals – this is very easy to prepare. Just add some fruits and milk on it and voila a healthy breakfast for your kids in just minutes. Cereals can supply as much as half of our child’s daily requirement of protein, carbohydrates and other vitamins. My friend likes adding fresh slices of kiwi, bananas, apples, and mandarin oranges to her bowl.

• Sandwiches – just by varying the fillings, sandwiches can be a hit with kids and old alike. Some spread could be cheese, peanut butter, choco, fruit jams, eggs, hotdogs, tuna, chicken or ham spread, bacon, burger patty paired with fresh juice, hot chocolate, milk or coffee.

• Oatmeal – helps us regulate our bowel movement since it is a good source of fiber. Oatmeals can be eaten with milk and little sugar or fresh fruits or you can eat as it is. Some oatmeal brand carries flavored ones like strawberry, honey, chocolate and banana.

These are just some suggestions that we can prepare for our family. I will add more as I go along. Meanwhile will check on those silver, platinum, palladium and gold bullion my friend was talking about collecting.
