Finally, Rice Cooker for My Kitchen and a New Toaster Too

Trivia #1: Did you know that I don’t use electric rice cooker years now?

Trivia #2: Did you know that my toaster was free from Citibank (can’t remember why)?

When we flew here, we made all our wedding gifts (mostly kitchenwares) shipped. Shipping was free as it was shouldered by hubby’s company so we consumed the allowed weight and so we shipped almost everything – from rice cooker to plates to spoons.

If you know me, you’ll surely say, “I know!”. But if you still don’t then I proudly admit that I am one heck of a kuripot! I’ll try to make use of what I currently have than buy.

The 2 rice cookers gave up easily and because I know I can still be able to cook rice without the cooker body, I used the inner portion (where we directly put the rice) and use the stove instead. I have been doing that for almost 2 years, until just last week when I noticed that rice left are spoiled after just a few hours. I believe it’s because of the heat, but still we decided to buy – it’s about time, right?

And then I noticed the not very pleasing toaster and asked hubby to change it. It has served its purpose well enough so it’s just time for it to retire.

Now, here they are… My new kitchen additions.

rice cooker & toaster

My kitchen’s theme is actually black and silver so I really had a second thought on buying this toaster, but because it is the cheapest we can find with the removable tray for easier cleaning and has wide slots for sandwiches to fit in, we thought it’s still a good purchase. Both has optional cheap insurance, but because UK allows exchange of faulty items within a year, we just decided to leave it. Hopefully, these two will outlast the old ones.

Embutido (Meatloaf – Filipino Style)

Embutido (Meatloaf – Filipino Style)
I’ve tried making Embutido twice already. I was happy the first time, but happier the second time. =) I did all the chopping manually the first time, but because my loving hubby gifted me a really good food-processor for my birthday last year, making it the second time around makes it a lot easier and I would say, much more flavorful.
If you’re planning to buy 1, I recommend this
